Trompo is a traditional game in my country; almost everybody in Venezuela know this game.
Smelling it it smells like tomato soup. Now, it's very inconsistent and today has been the worst I've had. I'm saddened this used to be amazing restaurant has gone downhill.UNLESS YOU SPEAK PERFECT SPANISH TH IS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU. Some weeks we come 2-3 times. MEEEEEEEWe LOVE el trompo!
How is this business handling reopening? I love when the ends are crispy...adds texture. I was so exited to visit as it looked authentic. The manager when we often go is Rah. TROMPO SLIDER Hamburger patty, our signature Trompo pork, salami, mozzarella & avocado on a freshly baked white roll. The space is super small and there is no way to social distance which is not their fault but they should at least care enough about their patrons to mask up. They did offer to remake it but we were in a time constraint and since we already waited 30 minutes we couldn't waitWhere to start? I was blown away I didn't use any sauce; this speaks volumes! Like I said the salsa was either frozen or pushed to the very back of the fridge (you can see the lid is smashed). What safety measures are they taking? Customer service is very good as well. A Trompo is a top which is spun by winding a length of string around the body, and launching it so that lands spinning on its point. I got a carne asada (steak), alpastor de pollo (spicy chicken) and a campechano (steak & chorizo) taco.
Food here used to be excellent every-time. Food is inexpensive and delicious.El Trompo has gone downhill. There is an ongoing joke at my office because the smell of steak and onions at 8:30 am is often emerging from my desk. I can eat them morning, noon or night.
How sway??? The bf ordered "pinta Rey" which left me in shock with the presentation and portion.

After eating there recently, I…" It's hard to find "true " Mexican dishes but Trompo doesn't disappoint!I haven't even tasted the food but half of their staff were wearing masks and half weren't. I briefly ate half my togo order in house and polished off their version of a Michelada with a Modelo Negra beer oh and requested it to be spicy. The food is so delicious and authentic.ingredients are always fresh at perfect proportions. I love this place and you should definitely check it out if you haven't! That's ok....Guess who has raved on and on to her husband about said tacos. Are they offering takeout, delivery, or both? The chicken was to die for. That's right frozen.
The steak and chorizo taco was good as well but mainly because of the flavorful steak. They are right down the street from where I live and we grab something at least once a week.
Not for these tacos! There might be a reason why 385 reviews rate this place at 4.5 stars.
Anything else to note about them right now?They have delivery thru Grubhub and also have take-out. We enjoyed the chips and salsa, spiced pork burrito with pineapple, and spiced pork tacos. I had a Oaxaca bow and a Recoverii shake. We basically came here 2 days in a row because we loved it so much. The string may also be wound around the point while the trompo is spinning in order to control its position or even lift the spinning top to another surface. The tocos are fantastic, beer is cold and you have to try the chili chiorzo cheese fries.Excellent food and that includes the fresh thin chips and a bounty of salsa. I always take a bite of my food just to taste the flavors before I add sauce.
BTW only mexican restaurant that does not give chips and salsa with 15 dollar Fajitas.I feel like I visited a totally different restaurant than most other reviewers. El Trompo has been on my list for a while now. But we were in the area and decided to try this place based.
