That only a Vanderbilt or Rockefeller could have owned it back in the day. Come on Suffolk County how long is that renovation going to take place?? It would have been better if the person assigned to each room read the poem aloud so we would all have the information at the same time. Years ago I brought my husband who loves both astronomy and history and he fell in love with it as well. It is recommended, however, that course 1 be taken as a prerequisite for any of the other five courses.During the COVID-19 shutdown, this series will be taught remotely via Zoom. Highly recommend.We loved our visit!!!! During the day, visitors can view the sun safely through a new Lunt hydrogen-alpha solar telescope.I've heard Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium is great and I do hope I can visit it soon Great time for children and adults.Been going here since I’m a kid. Vanderbilt ll. Still fun. At first, we were disappointed the concert was moved from the courtyard to the planetarium, but that's before we saw the great light show you guys put on for us. Thank you for a great experienceGreat museum and history! Each room was decorated and had one or two stuffed figures with a story to tell. Planetarium shows or mansion tours are $14 for adults; $11 for children 12 and under and free for children age two and under. Always a treat.Everything about it was awesome. On Tuesday, Dec 27th, we had the opportunity to visit the Vanderbilt Museum at night and experience the lights of the holidays both inside and out. Audiences have a desire to see a show like that, and providing that opportunity helps support the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum's other educational and historical programing. It was more enjoyable taking a random family trip, then any of the school field trip visits. Otherwise, it was a fun event.Wondefful place for the family! Our mansion tour guide, believe his name was Pete, was awesome.
Students may enroll in as many, or as few, courses as they choose. We saw a cute Halloween laser light show. The mansion is spectacular. Adventure Science Center Sensory-Friendly Planetarium Show: Stars. We had called ahead to ask for information regarding this, and never once were told that this was a possibility.
The structure itself seemed to be crumbling, in need of repair/cleaning (ie mold on the outside etc..) I'd recommend the Newport mansions to anyone, especially Marble House for anyone looking to get a gist of some Vanderbilt history. Ending with a video at the planetarium, that blow my mind. I was there last 30 years ago. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. My husband and I look forward to returning in the spring.To all that is reading many years ago I visited the Vanderbilt Museum I remembered a downstairs room with a bear standing in the corner it was in the memorial wing I brought my daughter there today and the tour guide laughed at me told me I was crazy there was no such a room whatever happened to this room that they don't know about.Had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful site on my recent visit to family in Long Island . Stunning grounds, friendly staff and an educational experience! The experience was fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised .Great place. the planetarium was really nice. It gives you a really good perspective of who WKV was and just how important he was to New York and Long Island. Thanks for going above and beyond!The Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium is absolutely beautiful. History. She guided the group through the beauty of the mansion while telling the story of how it all began.
