Rather than focus on the cheap thrills of floating beds and pea soup vomit, this movie examines the pain and confusion of the afflicted,as she journeys from child to adult and the final confrontation of an enemy that she's never quite sure is there.. Because The Dawn just looks so damn good, some special shout-outs are in order for some of the unsung heroes of the film crew.
Something unforeseen occurs moving the setting forward 10 years.
It's a nice technique that helps raise the stakes and get the viewer more invested in the story, as well as offer a false sense of sanctuary.
From the start hearing the cheesy opening music over the credits and the first scenes audio sounding like the actors were speaking into a bottle was enough for me to cringe and realize I wouldn't be watching the totality of this film, Combined with the lack of Sfx and the horrible acting skills of the guy who plays the psychotic father with PTSD in the first 10 mins.

Better luck next time. Sadly I wasted 90 minutes of my life and can never get it back. The Dawn is a slow burn of a film, admirably settling the viewer into the world with these characters. Following the murder of her family at the hands of her father in the wake of World War I, a young woman is sent to live in a convent. The horror genre doesn't come only in one temperature. Or maybe it was the bad acting. Pretty blah overall. Wow, what an amateurish attempt at a genre movie.
The movie remained bad for another 90 minutes. Wish the end was the beginning so no one would have to watch this badly written movie with laughable acting and pointless scenes! The resemblance is uncanny, and Grubbs was a great find for the film.

Tying this all together is Devanny Pinn as Rose, an extraordinarily gifted actress who has the ability to feel her characters on a deep level. It did not. Like in House of Manson, Dwelling, and Crossbreed before this, Pinn portrays Rose with an unassuming confidence, visibly relating emotion and inner thought through her eyes. 7 out of 12 found this helpful. Waste of time. It's so bad that is worth watching. Was this review helpful? Where do I even start? It looks like someone got a camera for Christmas and decided to make a film. First, kudos to casting director Scotty Mullen for the casting of Teilor Grubbs as young Rose.
