Highly recommended A married, Orthodox, Jerusalem butcher and Jewish father of four falls in love with his handsome, 22-year-old male apprentice, triggering the suspicions of his wife and the disapproval of his Orthodox community. One of them makes a mistake that may tear a family apart. Ex-convict and recovering alcoholic Che (Benjamin Bratt) gets by on his macho persona, but lives for the love of his son Jesse (Jeremy Ray Valdez). This third and final film of the Falls trilogy revisits former Mormon missionaries Chris and RJ, six years after they first fell in love and were disciplined for it, as they formulate a plan to be together at long last. The Falls is a feature film about two missionaries that fall in love while on their mission.
Powerful and challenging, La Mission is a moving portrayal of redemption and fatherhood. The son is played by the brilliant actor Jeremy Ray Valdez.

A single-parent ex-con in a tough, minority neighborhood finds his personal values challenged when he discovers his son is gay. (Screen Media Films) Kevin B. Lee "The Mission" feels exactly like one of those movies where you'd rather see the documentary about how the movie was made. La Mission is more about the acceptance of a father about his son's sexuality than with the issues of sexuality itself. It forces us to look at a very ugly side of our culture.
The sexual scenes are portrayed with much artistry, letting the viewers' imagination to really do the work.
